High School Students: Youth Tour Deadline January 12, 2025

Note: Applications for 2025 will open toward the end of the calendar year.

Randolph Electric Membership Corporation encourages students to apply for the 2025 Rural Electric Youth Tour before the deadline of January 12, 2025. One rising junior or senior high school student will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 15-21, 2025. Students who live in a home served by REMC are eligible to apply.

Sponsored by Randolph EMC and North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, the weeklong tour is a 50-year tradition of electric cooperatives across the country. The Youth Tour gives high school students the opportunity to be recognized as outstanding scholars, representing their local co-op and their school.

The chosen delegate will travel to Washington, D.C. with nearly 50 other high school students from all over North Carolina. About 1,600 students from across the nation are there for the same purpose, too—to visit the Smithsonian, Capitol Hill, Arlington National Cemetery, and several memorials. The Youth Tourists learn about American history and the electric cooperative business model.

“Students who go on Youth Tour are interested in finding new opportunities. Our delegates will meet with members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation, connect with a network of talented peers, and grow their leadership skills and ambitions,” said Nicole Arnold, communications and public affairs manager for REMC. “The Tour is an opportunity for exceptional students to have an eye-opening backstage pass to our nation’s capital.”

If you are a high school sophomore or junior in Fall 2024, you may simply fill out this application. You can mail or email it to Communications and Public Affairs Manager Nicole Arnold at REMC, PO Box 40, Asheboro, NC 27204 or nicole.arnold@randolphemc.com.

You can also find out more about the experience by calling Nicole Arnold at 336-625-8116.

You can learn about the trip from a national perspective at youthtour.coop.

Best wishes on your application!
