High School Students: Youth Tour Deadline January 16, 2026
Note: Applications for 2026 are now open.
Randolph Electric Membership Corporation encourages students to apply for the 2026 Rural Electric Youth Tour before the deadline of January 16, 2026. One rising junior or senior high school student will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 14-20, 2026. Students who live in a home served by REMC are eligible to apply.
Sponsored by Randolph EMC and North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, the week-long tour is a 50-year tradition of electric cooperatives across the country. The Youth Tour gives high school students the opportunity to be recognized as outstanding scholars, representing their local co-op and their school.
The chosen delegate will travel to Washington, D.C. with nearly 50 other high school students from all over North Carolina. About 1,600 students from across the nation are there for the same purpose, too—to visit the Smithsonian, Capitol Hill, Arlington National Cemetery, and several memorials. The Youth Tourists learn about American history and the electric cooperative business model.
"Youth Tour students are eager to discover new opportunities. They’ll meet with North Carolina’s congressional leaders and lawmakers, build lasting connections with driven and talented peers, and strengthen their leadership skills while growing their ambitions said Christian Morgan, Public Relations Manager for REMC. “The Tour is an opportunity for exceptional students to have an eye-opening backstage pass to our nation’s capital.”
If you are a high school sophomore or junior in Fall 2025, you may simply fill out this application. You can mail or email it to Public Relations Manager Christian Morgan at REMC, PO Box 40, Asheboro, NC 27204 or Christian.Morgan@randolphemc.com.
