February 18, 2021 | 6 PM: An arctic front impacted the five-county Randolph EMC service area on Thursday morning, causing outages for just under 250 members. Line technicians made quick work of restoring power to those affected by interruptions.

Meteorologists had anticipated a severe freezing rain event, with significant accumulation endangering trees and power lines.  Randolph EMC enacted its storm plan on Wednesday and prepared for potentially numerous outages.

Despite the wet working conditions, Randolph Electric line technicians worked throughout the early Thursday morning hours to repair broken line connectors and downed lines so that families could stay warm in their homes.

“Randolph Electric prepared for this storm event by keeping all crews on alert to minimize outage times as much as possible,” said REMC CEO Dale Lambert. "Our team of employees did a great job to restore power quickly.  We will continue to have additional line technicians on standby, ready to respond again tonight if necessary,” he added.
