Randolph Electric Membership Corporation continues outage restoration for the third day as rain and wind cause more damage across its service territory. Around 8 a.m., several Randolph EMC substations in Randolph, Montgomery and Moore Counties lost service due to a Duke Energy transmission line outage. As of 11:30 a.m., approximately 2,500 REMC members were without power.

Crews continue to report broken poles and downed spans of wire, which account for several prolonged outages. Most broken poles have resulted from trees outside the right of way falling onto power lines because of heavily saturated ground. Repairing broken poles is already a lengthy process, and crews are having to cut and remove trees before they can begin repairs.

Members who experience a power outage should report it by calling 1-877-736-2633 (1-877-REMC-OFF). We appreciate members’ patience as crews make progress restoring outages. The latest outage information is always available at https://outages.randolphemc.com.

Cooperative members should continue putting safety first. Never go near downed or sagging power lines and be aware that fallen lines could be hidden by debris or high water. Always assume power lines are energized and report damage to your utility provider immediately.
