6 AM Update: No Winter Weather Related Outages Overnight

As of 6:00 a.m., Randolph Electric Membership Corporation continues to report zero winter weather related outages for members. Crews responded to scattered outages across Randolph, Montgomery and Moore Counties to restore power as quickly and safely as possible between approximately 3:30a.m. – 9p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017. A total of 1,417 members have been affected by winter storm Helena in regards to power outages: 63 members in Randolph County, 881 members in Montgomery County, and 473 members in Moore County. Freezing rain and sleet caused the most issues in these areas, with the majority of power outages resulting from ice loading on weak trees and tree limbs, causing them to fall onto lines.

The area is currently under a wind chill advisory through noon on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until noon on Tuesday. Randolph EMC personnel will continue to monitor conditions and will remain on alert.
